Teaching in the Classroom
The following guidance can be used to familiarise yourself with the AV equipment in the Lecture Theatres, as well as the tools available to you to support your learning design and course development.

Zoom Room Controls Manual
The lecture theatres use the Zoom Room Technology. This manual will explain each of the different functions available within the Lecture Theatre, through Zoom Room.
There are several ways you can enhance your course and develop learning content. This can support and encourage engagement and participation in your classroom. There are also a variety of tools that can be used to support your practice.
Creating Video for Learning
Video content is one of the options available when developing asynchronous content. This content can be used to complement the classroom delivery as a preparatory or consolidation piece, or act as a revision tool for students. In addition, there are benefits from an accessibility and inclusivity perspective.
If you are interested in creating video content, please review our guidance on developing video for learning.
Polling (Mentimeter)
If you wish to use Classroom Polling, we recommend the use of Mentimeter, instead of Zoom Polls to ensure these activities appear in the Lecture Recordings. Please review our guidance on Mentimeter, here. If you require a Mentimeter license please contact the Learning Innovation team.
Discussion Forums
Discussion Forums can be used to continue the conversation beyond the classroom. They have the benefit of supporting more reflective and considered responses to questions and scenarios, but often suffer from little engagement or off-topic conversations.
Our guidance on discussion forums offers good practice example and supporting evidence to support your use of the tool.
Guidance for Lecture Capture, as well as editing and maintaining recordings can be found on the Lecture Capture page, here.
If you require additional support, please contact Media Services.
Facilitator Checklist
This checklist should be used as a guide for facilitating teaching sessions. It shows the division of tasks between facilitator and faculty for hybrid teaching. Before facilitating a session you should engage with faculty to set the relationship and expectations for support.
